Story of Rinjani
Rinjani in Lombok has folklore related to Dewi Anjani, a beautiful princess from the kingdom around the mountain:
Dewi Anjani is a princess who really loves nature.
One day, Dewi Anjani decided to meditate at the top of Mount Rinjani.
The people of Lombok believe that the peak of Mount Rinjani is the invisible palace of Dewi Anjani.
To the southeast of the peak, there is an area called "Segara Muncar" which is believed to be the palace of Dewi Anjani and good spirits.
According to legend, Dewi Anjani mysteriously disappeared from the real world to the spirit world at a spring in Lombok called Mandala.
This is how the mountain got its name Rinjani, a mixture of her name and her fathers
